After a Rookie season without regular playing time, Rob Dillingham starts a crucial second year. Although he seems to have been reserved for more playing time this season, there have been rumors during the low season to add another Point Guard. A place in the rotation of Minnesota cannot be put in stone for Dillingham if they would add an established floor general.
According to Jon Krawczynski of the athleticsThe Timberwolves will probably bring Guard Bones Hyland back in the fold. The four -year -old veteran was 25 years old and came to Minnesota at a two -way deal at the end of February.
With the schedule that drops little by little, this is a good time to prepare the wolves selection, including the plan to add depth behind Mike Conley and Rob Dillingham.

Although Hyland is a Point Guard, he should not catch up in Dillingham in the pecking order of the defense half.
Bones Hyland seen as a favorite to do wolves again
Very little was seen from Hyland after he arrived at the team. The first round of 2021 only appeared in four games for a total of 17 minutes, scored five points and switched off four assists.
The position of the point guard has been out of season. Mike Conley will soon be 38 years old, and it is not yet clear whether Dillingham is ready for an extensive role for a team with championship ambitions.
Hyland should not threaten Dillingham’s playing time
If the Timberwolves indeed return Hyland, it would also show that the team in Dillingham believes as a rotary piece. Hyland would not threaten much for its playing time.
The other guards that Krawczynski mentioned would at least put more pressure on Dillingham, in particular Malcolm Brogdon. The sixth man of the year 2022-23, Brogdon, is perhaps the best point guard who stays on the free agent market. He would probably not agree to sign somewhere, unless he knew he would receive playing time.
The other two (Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet) may not start playing the year about Dillingham, but can offer busy if Dillingham would achieve a slow start. Payne was on the Knicks all season and stayed in their rotation (up to game 3 of the conference final).
Shamet was also a member of the Knicks, who abandoned him before started last season, but brought him back as soon as he recovered from his injury. Although he was not a traditional Point Guard, he played about 38% of his minutes in the position in 2022-23 and 2023-24 with the Suns and Wizards, according to basketball reference. The Sharpshooter has already played for six teams in seven years, but he has always been a player in the rotation during his career.
