Timberwolves-Nuggets Matchup ready to deliver the ultimate Christmas Day Theatrics

Shams Charania from ESPN gave fans of 10 teams an early Christmas gift by revealing that their favorite team will play on that vacation. One of those teams are the Timberwolves. After Minnesota has never appeared on the schedule of December 25 until 2016, this is now their fourth time that they play on Christmas Day. They have a 2-1 record in the first three.

It should not be surprising that their opponent is the nuggets (like Jon Krawczynski of the Athletic tweeted, Minnesota had a case to be the home team, but they are not). The two squadrons have had a number of great fights lately, and this Christmas meeting has the chance to be the best of the five games on the schedule.

Two of the best of the GO right game on the head

Although they play two different positions, it is always fun to view two of the best go-head-to-head. According to Draftings Sportsbook, Nikola Jokić is the chances of winning MVP, while Anthony Edwards is in fifth place.

It was just over four months ago that Jokic dropped a career-high 61 points against Minnesota. The Timberwolves still won in double extension. It was one of the best regular season matches of the year.

Minnesota actually wiped the four-game season series, the first time they did this against Denver since the 2002-03 season. Nevertheless, the nuggets ended one game better than the wolves, and the same happened in the rankings 2023-24.

Edwards has finished seventh in MVP in the last two seasons. The 24-year-old dropped 26 points last year in his first Christmas game, a victory over the Mavericks. Ant-Man was great in the four meetings against the Nuggets last season. He placed averages of 31.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists.

Playoff -Fights

It was in 2024 where the Timberwolves and Nuggets had one of the lake back and forth series in the recent memory. Minnesota won the first two before Denver took the next three. As ruling champions at the time, almost everyone counted out the wolves.

Instead, they won Game 6 with no less than 45 points. The Timberwolves followed 15 at the tranquility of Game 7 and defeated Denver 60-37 in the second half to achieve the eight-pointed victory. It is seen as one of the most memorable victories in franchise history, because the Minnesota only resulted in their second journey to the final of the conference in the franchise history, and it came in a match in which Edwards only shot 6-24 off the field.

In 2023 they also met in the play -offs in a year in which the Nuggets won the title. It can be claimed that the Timberwolves, their first round opponent, gave them their most difficult series. After a win of 29 points in game 1, Denver Minnesota only defeated 15 points in the subsequent four games.

The Timberwolves each of the last two seasons have improved from the Nuggets. Denver brought back this season by Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, Tim Hardaway Jr. and add Jonas Valančiūnas. The Joker has more help, but it would be a blow to the belly if the Timberwolves came again during the largest day of the games in the regular season.
