The Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly “looked at various candidates” for their last schedule, including Malcolm Brogdon, Cam Payne and Landry Shamet, according to the Athletic’s Jon Krawczynski.
“All indications, however, are that Bones Hyland is the leader to get that last place, according to the sources of the competition,” wrote Krawczynski, adding that Hyland signed a two -way contract with the Wolves in February.

Hyland, which turns 25 in September, also briefly played with the Iowa Wolves, the G -competition branch of Minnesota, and spent the rest of his time with the Timberwolves.
The VCU product came to Minnesota after he had been abandoned by the Atlanta Hawks. He appeared last season in four games for the Timberwolves, an average of 1.3 points, 1.0 assists and 4.3 minutes from the bank.
Hyland was also a first pick-pick from Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly when Connelly was at the Denver Nuggets.
Minnesota has currently signed 14 players for standard contracts, excluding two -way deals.
That leaves one open space for Hyland, but the Timberwolves can leave it open for “maximum flexibility for potential transactions in the future”, per krawczynski.
Wolves signed Julius Randle, Naz Reid this summer
Earlier this month, Free Agent Guard Johnny Juzang agreed with a one -year -old deal with the Timberwolves. Juzang spent his first three seasons with the Utah Jazz after he had come out of UCLA in 2022.
The wolves have also made various other movements this season, which Julius Randle is again signing for a three -year contract extension of $ 100 million and retaining Big Man Naz Reid for a five -year -old deal of $ 125 million.
