Mozart in particular traveled a little too well in the first part of the race in Bath on Monday. Delphi sensibly kept him together before the pace quickened in the final half mile. Mozart kept going in the straight after being a bit too fast and hopefully we can now join him in hurdles as he seems to like soft ground and has the necessary stamina.

We entered Fighting Poet in the all-weather mile and a quarter handicap at Lingfield on Monday. It’s been a while since he’s run on this surface and hopefully this will suit him better than the easy ground he recently found in Brighton.

Swift Jet competes at Ffos Las on Tuesday in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle. He is a real chaser and will probably need a test of his endurance. This race should be a good starting point for him for the coming season, if the ground is not too soft.

Thank you to everyone who supported our evening in honor of Captain Tim Forster last night. A joint venture between the Adlestrop Club and Venatour Racingthere was a packed house at Dunkertons in Cheltenham. Venatour organizes race trips all over the world and we hope to take the Adlestrop Club to Pardubice next year.

Our panel of Graham Thorner, Hwyel Davies, Luke Harvey, Fergal O’Brien and Henry Daly discussed the years of the captain’s remarkable career. Many beautiful stories were told highlighting the incredible respect for this unique character that those who worked for him possessed. The audience included his former staff from more than four decades ago, plus amateurs and assistants including Mark Smyly, Kim Bailey, Jonathan Portman and Christopher Price.

I am delighted that on this evening, on what was undoubtedly a momentous occasion, I was able to raise over £2,000 for Heros.
