Sal Stewart was legally the Reds organization’s top prospect. It’s not surprising that Stewart is considered the top candidate in the organization in most places. He’s now ready to play in the major leagues, already having some limited major league time under his belt with some success, and he’s hitting .309/.383/.524 with 20 home runs and 34 doubles in 118 games between Double-A and Triple-A in the 2025 season. Between his production thus far and what he could do in the future, it all led to him being ranked as the 19th best baseball player on this list.
You have to go to the bottom half of the Top 100 to see the next player from the Reds organization. But at number 68 you will find short stop Tyson Lewis. The 2024 second-round pick has explosive tools with plus speed and elite-level exit velocities (and we don’t just mean for 19-year-olds). He made his debut with the Arizona Complex League Reds this year and was promoted to Single-A Daytona after 46 games. Between his two stops, he played in 81 games and hit .311/.376/.486 with 16 doubles, six triples, nine home runs, and stole 27 bases. He also struck out 102 batters – an area he will need to improve as he continues his development in the minors. This was the first list he made this season.
About ten places later is the final of the three Reds candidates on the list with catcher Alfredo Duno. The top signing in the club’s 2023 international signing class, he was limited to designated hitter in his first season due to an elbow problem and then missed most of the following season after breaking a rib. But in 2025, he played a full season and won the Florida State League’s Most Valuable Player award after hitting .287/.430/.518 with more walks than strikeouts, finishing second in the league on average and leading the league in almost every other offensive category except triples and stolen bases.
There was a surprising omission from the list. Starting pitcher Rhett Lowder did not make the selection for Law’s Top 100. A year ago, Law had him at the #48 spot on his list. In 2025, the right-handed starter pitched only in the minor leagues and only did so during multiple rehab assignments as he missed the start of the season with an elbow problem, then missed most of the season with an oblique injury that occurred during a rehab start with Louisville, then was shut down late in the year for another rehab assignment in Triple-A when his shoulder didn’t fully recover after an outing. Lowder did return to pitch in the Arizona Fall League a few weeks later and made four starts for Peoria.
With Tyson Lewis making this list, there are a total of five Reds prospects included in the various Top 100 lists this season by quality publications. Sal Stewart and Alfredo Duno made all the lists, while 2025 first-round pick Lewis, Rhett Lowder and Steele Hall made at least one of the others.
