Three potential trade objectives for the Raptors in 2025-26

The Toronto Raptors enter the 2025-26 season that is determined to break their three-year play-off drought. After they have ended again outside the late season, they will lean on Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl to lead.

Toronto added Sandro Mamukelashvili to the free desk and set up Collin Murray-Boyles and Alijah Martin. Those movements offer depth, but the Raptors may need more if they want to compete for a play-in place in a weaker Eastern Conference. Here are three players that they can pursue through the trade.

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The future of Giannis Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee has been an important storyline this season. While the double MVP chose to stay with the bucks, trade speculation continues.

Toronto has long been linked to Antetokounmpo and would probably make a strong push if it becomes available. The acquisition of him would be expensive and competitive, but he would offer the presence of the superstar that the Raptors missed since the departure of Kawhi Leonard.

Nick Richards

The Phoenix Suns shifted in rebuilding mode this summer and added young centers Kaman Maluach and Mark Williams. That makes Nick Richards a possible trade candidate.

Richards, 27, offers rim protection, rebound and solid scoring capacity. Toronto misses reliable front court depth behind Poeltl, and Richards could play that role without requiring a huge trading package. His affordable value makes him a realistic target.

Devin Carter

Devin Carter, prepared by Sacramento, had an uneven rookie year after missing the first half of the season with shoulder surgery. Nevertheless, he showed elite defensive instincts and high energy.

Toronto could aim Carter to strengthen their defense half. Although his attacking game remains a work in progress, his defense would fit in with the identity of the Raptors. With patience and development, he could evolve into a core rotation player.

Look forward

Although none of these movements is guaranteed, each represents a different type of upgrade. Antetokounmpo would be a franchise-changing acquisition. Richards would strengthen the bank. Carter would add young people and defensive versatility.

Toronto has made himself positive. If the correct deal comes forward, it may be enough to bring the Raptors back into the play -off photo.
