Sixty percent of patients at a leading clinic looking for help for eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia use weight loss Jabs.

During therapy sessions to doctors, a growing number of patients with potentially life-threatening disorders have admitted that they take Wegovy, Mounjaro or Ozempic to control their weight, says Rehab specialist the UKAT group.

Doctors in the Banbury Lodge Clinic in Banbury, Oxfordshire, say 28 of the 48 patients they have treated this year for eating disorders-bijna two-thirds used the powerful drugs that can reduce body weight to 20 percent.

Some patients were as young as 16, the doctors add.

Experts from the clinic say that the problem has deteriorated considerably in six months. Last year no patient used the Jabs.

The revelation evokes new concern about how easy it is to get the medicines and the lack of effective guarantees.

They only have a permit for use on the NHS by people who are obese and have weight-related health problems. But there is a huge private market for treatments and a spiral black market.

Dimitri Theofili, food therapist at Banbury Lodge, said: ‘What we see is really worrying.

Clients as young as 16 reveal during therapy that they abuse abuse of weight loss injections to feed their unhealthy relationship with food.

‘This is all about psychological control – the need to determine what they put in their bodies.

The acceptance of society of weight loss Jabs to tackle weight loss instead of their most important intended goal to help control type 2 diabetes or to tackle clinical obesity- this idea has fueled that if you do not use weight loss-jab to lose weight, you will be behind. ‘

Campaigners said last night that urgent action should be taken to limit the use of the JABs to protect vulnerable people.

Tom Quinn, director of external affairs at the Charity Beat of the British eating disorder, said that the statistics are ‘very worrying’.

“These drugs are extremely dangerous for people with eating disorders because they can worsen harmful eating behavior and thoughts for people who are unwell, or contribute to an eating disorder that develops in those who are at risk,” he said.

“It should be mandatory that thorough assessments of mental health are performed in addition to physical health controls, and for regular check-ins if someone has prescribed weight loss medicines, including once the treatment of treatment is over.”

It is thought that around 500,000 people in Great -Britain take Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro, most through private recipes.

There have been concerned about the lack of guarantees around such recipes.

Little is known about the safety of the Jabs for people with a normal weight – let alone with eating disorders that may already be heavily underweight.
