Three flames at National Junior Team Summer Showcase

Hockey fans do not have to go without an elite competition all summer. The National Junior Team Summer Showcase is now underway and runs until 2 August in Minneapolis in De Ridder Arena. The tournament contains players from Canada, the US, Finland and Sweden.

This tournament is largely seen as the first step in the direction of the selection of the World Championship of the Junior Championship. It is also an important showcase for Team Canada Brass to make a number of early decisions.

Hockey Canada today announced their official selection for the Summer Showcase of the National Junior Team. Among the selected players are three Calgary Flames -Draytees in the form of Henry Mews, Zayne Parekh and Cole Reeschy.

Tournaments such as the National Junior Team Summer Showcase are good phases to further develop prospects and get them attention from Hockey Canada.

These selections are proof of the scouting department of the Flames. Both Parekh and Reeschy are Calgary Flames first rounders in the concepts of 2024 and 2025, respectively. Henry Mews, a third-rounder in 2024, has been a striking attacking defender in the OHL with both Ottawa and Sudbury.

Team Canada is coached by London Knights Boss Dale Hunter, with assistants Brad Lauer (Spokane) and Gardiner Macdougall (Moncton).

The first action of Canada takes place in Minneapolis on July 29 at 4:30 CDT, where Team Canada White Team Canada Red plays.

Team Canada will take on Finland on July 30, Sweden on August 1 and Team USA on August 2. This is a good chance to view an example of possible World Junior Championship -Matchups.
