Thousands celebrate Independence Day on Dunwoody 4 July Parade

Thousands were found on a steaming July 4 to witness more than 110 entries, including bands, dinosaurs, floats and political candidates during the annual July 4 parade of the city.

The day went without a towbar, except for an incident with a truck that was in the parade, hit a pedestrian and threw several children from the back of the trailer when the driver reacted by hitting the brakes.

According to a release from the Dunwoody police, the incident took place when an F-150 lightning with a trailer and pedestrian was involved in a crash.

“The drivers of the vehicle pauted to change drivers and continue in the parade. During the switch, the new driver wrongly hit the accelerator pedal, so that the vehicle ran forward,” said the release. “The vehicle hit a pedestrian and hit her on the floor. When the driver hit the brakes, disconnected from the truck and made sure that several people fell off on the trailer.”

Several children and an adult, who were transported to local hospitals, members non-lifferring injuries.

“We are still actively investigating the crash and currently have no other information to release,” said the statement. .

While medical staff took care of the wounded, the parade paused for about 10 minutes.

Outgoing Dunwoody High School football coach and athletic director Mike Nash was named Dunwoody Fourth of July Parade Marshal this year.

During his decade of coaching at the school, Nash revitalized the program and achieved a record of 33-64 with back-to-back playoff performances in 2023 and 2024. On XNash thanked the Dunwoody community for his support, but said, “All good things must end.”

The Parade included the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile, Freddie Falcon, a scattering of politicians, the Torres’ Family Dinowoody Entry and the Dunwoody High School Band with his football players with a large flag,

After the Parade, a family -friendly festival was held in the parking lot of Dunwoody Village, with food, playgrounds and entertainment.
