Thomas Tuchel has now commented on his selection of Anthony Gordon for his England squad.

Two World Cup qualifiers and England have of course already qualified as group leaders for the 2026 World Cup final. England against Serbia at Wembley on Thursday, November 13, with kick-off at 7.45 pm. Then it is the kick-off between Albania and England on Sunday, November 16 at 5 p.m.

This team of Thomas Tuchel from England consists of a total of three Newcastle United players: Anthony Gordon, Nick Pope and Dan Burn.

Eddie Howe had his pre-Brentford press conference earlier this morning and said that while they don’t think it is a serious problem, Anthony Gordon could miss Sunday’s game at Brentford and that they are sending him for scans on his hip to check there is nothing to worry about in the longer term. So it remains to be seen whether he will indeed remain part of this England squad.

Thomas Tuchel has now reassured Newcastle United over Anthony Gordon after his latest England squad was announced:

“Anthony Gordon is very important.

“He gives us intensity, hunger.

“A physical input that is very rare to find.

“He helps us to build team identity, to be an intense and hardworking team.

“We are aware of the minor discomfort in his hip and are in close contact with Newcastle United’s medical staff.

“We decided to call him and there is still a chance he could be involved on Sunday [for Newcastle United at Brentford] and so we have a chance that he will [still] come to [this England] camp.

“We take care of Anthony Gordon, we do not take unnecessary risks”
