Despite significant support in the summer, Ruben Amorim has failed to transform Manchester United’s fortunes on the pitch this season.
The Red Devils have won just three games while losing five times in all competitions, including a humiliating elimination in the second round of the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town.
United are currently 10th in the Premier League, and there have been several calls from ex-players and pundits for him to be given the opportunity.
The British media has quickly published several articles linking the who’s who of the management world with a move to Old Trafford.
Amorim must be given time
However, INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe threw cold water on those reports by stating that he wants to give Amorim three years to get the house in order.
The British billionaire made a valid point by saying that given the scale of the job ahead of him, the former Sporting CP boss deserves more time and not a knee-jerk reaction.
Whether that will indeed be the case remains to be seen, especially if the team’s form does not improve soon.
But names are already being checked off the checklist. According to The sunThomas Tuchel has been ruled out as Amorim’s replacement.
Tuchel was in the running
The current England boss had spoken to INEOS when Erik ten Hag was in charge, but both sides were at odds and so he was never taken into account when the Dutchman was eventually sacked.

“Tuchel’s contract as England manager runs until the end of the 2026 World Cup and he is expected to see it through.”
The Champions League winner’s playing style is very different from Amorim’s, and United cannot afford another transition phase.
They need to stick to the plan or bring in someone who has a similar style and isn’t as adamant about not changing things as the sitting president.
