The new Tottenham Baas Thomas Frank insists that he fully understands that Arsenal’s decision to sign Christian Norgaard from Brentford this summer, after the Gunners had landed the star for £ 15 million.
The Denmark International was at Brentford since the signing of Fiorentina in 2019, with spells earlier in his career at Hamburg and Brondby, but he has really been impressed in the last 12 months.
The side of Mikel Arteta closed a £ 15 million deal earlier this month for the 31-year-old. Before their six seasons together in Brentford, Frank also managed Norgaard at Brondby and at youth level with the national side of Denmark
And after the recent game between ARSENAL And Tottenham, Frank said he was ‘so happy’ for the move from Norgaard to Arsenal.
“It was a bit emotional,” Frank said.
“I know him since he was 15. He is now 31 and I have trained him for 12 years, so I can say that I have known him for quite a long time.
“This is the first time I played against him. He played more than 300 games for me and it was a bit strange to see him in the other team.
“He is a top player and I can understand why Arsenal went for him. I am so happy that he had this great opportunity in his career. ‘
After he had been to the club in recent weeks, Norgaard was recently opened and revealed how he told Hij told Club Media: “I was able to be with the team from day one for the season and it has benefited me a lot.
“I am now much further in line in terms of the integration of playing than I would have been if I now became a member.
“So it has been fantastic so far. It is such a good group, such a good group of staff and the whole team has made everything very easy.
“Of course I am realistic. I know that this is a step further in terms of quality, the size of the club. But I am also here to contribute, otherwise I would not have taken the step.
“But I also know that there are some of the best players in the world in my position here, so it will be competitive. There are the things you see on the field at the weekend, but there are many other things going on around the football team, and I hope I can really help this team, both outside the field.
“There is a lot of competition, but for me it was an opportunity to represent Arsenal at the age of 31. I came to a later stage in my career and I drew a new deal with Brentford.
‘But when the interest came from ARSENAL And after my first conversations with Mikel, it was very clear to me that I would do everything to play here.
“To get this adventure, to be part of a team that has such great ambitions, is a great step for me to take this stage in my career.”
