This week’s funding round features four companies securing capital across sectors from climate tech solutions to indigenous entrepreneurship. The combined $107 million in new investments signals continued confidence in startups tackling environmental challenges and underrepresented markets.
Ruminant Biotech closes $17 million Series A
Ruminant Biotech, a New Zealand-founded agritech company developing methane control solutions for feedlot livestock, has closed a $17 million NZD Series A round. The increase was co-led by Rosrain Investments and Cultivate Ventures, with additional participation from Marex and follow-on investment from AgriZeroNZ.
The Auckland-based company has developed technology that targets methane emissions from livestock, which are a major contributor to agricultural greenhouse gases. The new capital will support the company’s path toward commercialization as regulatory approvals progress.
Onton raises a $7.5 million seed round
AI startup Onton has secured $7.5 million in seed funding led by Footwork, with participation from Liquid 2, Parable Ventures, 43 and others. The company has now raised approximately $10 million in total and plans to expand its product, scale its team, and grow its global footprint as demand for reliable, intelligent search increases.
The San Francisco-based platform focuses on helping consumers make product decisions through AI-powered search technology. The startup plans to use the funding to expand beyond its current categories into additional consumer segments.
pay.com.au completes a $53 million capital event
pay.com.au, an end-to-end payments and rewards platform, has completed a $53 million capital raise to support strategic growth and international expansion. The round, led by Morgans Corporate Limited, includes $25 million in new capital and a secondary sell-off of $28 million.
The Australian fintech platform allows small business users to collect reward points on transactions previously absent from other popular rewards programs. The company plans to use the new capital to fuel local expansion, in addition to an international push into the U.S. market.
Ocher Ventures reaches first close of $30 million
Ocher Ventures, the first Australian venture capital investment focused exclusively on First Nations entrepreneurship, has achieved a first close of $30 million of the $100 million target for its first fund.
The VC has already made its first five investments, including veteran construction and facilities management company PSG Holdings, owned by First Nations, video games maker MicroProse, which generated $5 million in revenue in fiscal 2024, and AI biodiversity platform Xylo Systems, co-founded in 2020 by Camille Goldstone-Henry.
The VC fund will typically invest between $250,000 and $2 million per company, from Seed and Series A, with reserve capital for follow-on investments. The company remains sector agnostic, with portfolio companies already in gaming, AI, construction and clean technology.
