That’s exactly what 10 well-heeled buyers are getting with their allocation of one of 10 units of the Rimac Nevera R Founder’s Edition. These are people who were already close to the brand and are now recognized as part of its creation, rather than just customers with big checkbooks. Or maybe a little bit of both.
Older automakers struggle to provide this kind of intimacy because they are too big and too layered. Too many people feel they are owed this kind of intimacy. But I think Rimac is small enough, focused enough and confident enough to make the experience truly personal without losing credibility.
Ever heard of a 0 to 249 MPH time? Rimac just set a new record for it
The Rimac Nevera R is officially the fastest accelerating car in the world.
The Founder’s Edition is a new kind of status symbol
The traditional automotive status is easy to recognize. Loud colors. Huge wings. Limited production plates. The Nevera R Founder’s Edition goes in the opposite direction. The exclusivity is clear, as Rimac only makes 10 copies. However, you might not understand how special it is unless you’re already in the Rimac headspace. That feels very intentional. The visual restraint, lack of public marketing, and lack of detailed public specifications all reinforce the same idea: this car is not meant to be explained to outsiders. Rimac really leans into the idea of ”if you have to ask…”
In a world where social media has killed exclusivity, Rimac has found a way to reintroduce it, as long as you have deep pockets. The real flex isn’t the 2,107 horsepower here, nor the 1.66-second 0-60 time, the 240-mph top speed, or the records it sets. It’s the access.
This new EV aims to be the ultimate in American luxury
Although Dacora Motors’ electric vehicle appears to be a creation of artificial intelligence, it is actually real and entirely American.
What exactly is the Rimac Nevera R Founder’s Edition?
The experience starts at the Rimac Campus in Zagreb with a personal configuration session led by Mate Rimac himself, together with Design Director Frank Heyl and the design team. Using V-RED visualization software, customers can fine-tune colours, materials and finishes in real time and see how the car evolves as decisions are made. Each Founder’s Edition car starts with a striking two-tone base specification, split along the body’s natural geometry to visually lower the car and sharpen the corners.
“Rather than creating a screaming paint scheme, we use the car’s natural geometry as color distribution to emphasize what we’re trying to achieve here,” says lead exterior designer Clark Yutong Wu.
An ultra-thin central roof stripe, just two millimeters at its narrowest point, carries Rimac’s tie motif and subtle circuit board graphics. Inside, custom embroidery acts as an Easter egg of sorts that references three key moments in Rimac’s history, paired with a wild, asymmetrical seating layout inspired by Mate’s personal Nevera. From hand-stitched interiors to custom leathers and paint shades sourced from other vehicles in an owner’s collection, no two out of ten cars will be the same.
Okay, so once you’ve designed your Nevera, the fun is far from over. First of all, Mate itself will deliver each of the 10 cars. From there, Founder’s Club members get priority access to product previews, invitations to private shows and record runs, and a corporate card that provides direct access to Bugatti Rimac’s headquarters. They are invited to strategic discussions with Mate and the leadership team and receive meaningful input into future research and development. Rimac’s professional testing team also provides specialized driving training. The Nevera R Founder’s Edition isn’t just about getting a car with truly stunning performance figures or limited production rights, which it’s both; it’s about the proximity to the people, the process and the future of the brand.
Rimac’s solid-state battery will revolutionize Bugatti
The hypercar brand could be the first to use this battery in production.
What this says about the future of ultra-low volume cars
The Nevera R Founder’s Edition gives an indication of where the top end of the car market is going. As performance metrics converge and technology becomes more replicable, differentiation shifts from raw capability to experience.
We’ve all read too many headlines at this point to be dazzled by insane horsepower and time-bending torque. Rimac makes it clear that it does not just sell a car. It’s selling a seat at the table to participate in the future of the company. That model may prove more valuable than any record. For the right buyer, participating in the process can be at least as important, if not more, than owning the product.
If this approach catches on, the next generation of hypercars may be defined less by what they can do and more by who gets to do it. And Rimac once again looks like he got there early.
