We all know how bad members of the congress behave and represent the American people, but now legislators are dropping damn information that is said to reveal how terrible the situation on Capitol Hill really is.
As TGP readers know, different members have shown several signs of cognitive decline, and there are two striking examples that immediately come to mind. The first is late Californian senator Dianne Feinstein.
Feinstein held the office, even though she was mentally reduced so that she had no choice but to give up current from lawyer for her daughter. Subsequently, in December 2024, a GOP representative of Texas Gop Kay Granger was found in a dementia care house in December 2024 after he was missing for six months at the congress.
This is on top of the many waterfalls that we have seen from other older politicians such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY).
Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) said Polito that a dozen of his colleagues are in advanced stages of cognitive decline and have no idea what they are voting for.
“There is no doubt that somewhere between six and a dozen of my colleagues are at a point where they are … I think they don’t have the power to do their work,” he unveiled.
A Republican legislator who withheld his name agreed with Himes that dementia on the hill was a problem and added it this:
“I have a hard time sometimes telling between the deterioration of members and a handful that are simply not very smart.”
Rep. Don Beyer (D-VA) dropped even more disturbing information to polico: members of the congress appear drunk and high while they start voting.
“I have seen a Republican who unfortunately should not be mentioned for you, appears drunk a number of times,” he said. There were one or two dems that I thought it might be high, but not drunk. “
Himes added that most members were rarely sober when they vote late in the evening, although he never witnessed someone extremely drunk.
“Every time we do a vote of 11 p.m., a minority of the room has a zero blood alcohol content,” he said. “Now that is different from drunken voices. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone on the floor. ‘
“If you are susceptible to substance abuse, everything about this job will probably make it worse,” Rep. Sean Casten (D-IL) added.
This is another reason why America needs term limits for the congress.
