Eliezer Mayenda has put pen on paper about a new long-term contract with Premier League newcomers Sunderland.

Mayenda, who scored the Sunderland equalizer in their play-off definitive triumph over Sheffield United last season, committed himself to the Black Cats until 2030.

The 20-year-old gave 10 goals in 40 championship outings for Sunderland in 2024-25, a total that was only improved by Wilson Isidor (13) in the team.

His 15 targeted involvement was a joint team-high together with Isidor, while only Patrick Roberts (72) completed more dribbles than Mayenda (54) in the second layer.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract. I think everyone knows that this is my team, my club, my city – so it’s a special moment,” Mayender said the website of Sunderland.

“The Sunderland fans are very, very special. I think they are one of the best in England. Playing in the stadium of light is always incredible.

“So if I have one message, it is to continue like this – I feel great every time I get on the field.”

It still marks a little important company in front of Regis Le Bris, who is preparing for their first season in the Premier League since 2016-17.

Habib Diarra, Simon Adingra, Chemsdine Talbi, Noah Sadiki, Granit Xhaka, Robin Roefs and Reinildo Mandava have all completed permanent movements to Sunderland.

The Black Cats also changed the loan from Enzo Le Fee into a permanent switch after a successful Stint last year. Marc Guiu also got on loan from Chelsea.

Sunderland has two friendly games against Augsburg and Rayo Vallecano for their Premier League opener at home at West Ham United on August 16.
