- The vivo X300 Ultra is expected to retain a large 14mm ultra-wide sensor, similar to the
- That sensor is large enough to rival the main cameras on many smartphones, delivering sharper low-light shots and better dynamic range.
- The ultra-wide camera has a resolution of 50 MP.
While most phone makers consider the ultrawide camera as secondary, vivo takes a different approach. According to details shared by vivo’s product manager, Han Boxiao, on Weibothe X300 Ultra will retain its 14mm ultra-wide camera with a large Sony LYT-818 sensor, following the approach used in last year’s X200 Ultra. Instead of switching to the newer Sony LYT-828 sensor, vivo appears to be using the same sensor that performed well in the previous model.

The numbers support this claim. The ultra-wide camera has a resolution of 50 MP (via Digital chat station), which provides a wide image while retaining enough detail for cropping or large prints.
The ultra-wide lens is just one part of vivo’s ZEISS camera system. Boxiao previously confirmed that the X300 Ultra would have a stacked lineup, including a 200MP main camera with a 35mm focal length and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera.
If that’s not enough, the company has already done that revealed an optional Zeiss telephoto extender. This accessory can extend the phone’s zoom to an equivalent of 400mm, and digital cropping can extend it even further.
With the X300 Ultra expected to debut in 2026, we probably won’t have to wait long to see if vivo’s bold camera strategy is worth it.
