A pregnant BJP supporter was reportedly kicked in the stomach during an attack on her house in the Cooch Behar district in West Bengal, an attack that her mother claims, was carried out by members of the reigning Trinamool Congress.

The incident, which took place in Dinhata, pulled a sharp condemnation of the opposition BJP, while a local trinamool leader declined the allegations as a “small matter” and denied the party’s involvement.

Jayanti Barman claimed that her eight -month heavy daughter, Purabi Barman, was attacked after she intervened to protect her when employees of the local Trinamool Pradhan won their house.

“They attacked our house. When the Goons tried to attack me, my daughter came to save me. They kicked her in the stomach, threw her on the floor. She became restless with the pain,” Jayanti told reporters.

She claimed that the men then destroyed the house and rs 1 Lakh plundered the family for the delivery of Purabi. The attackers also stopped that the family received medical help.

“They put the ambulance on the market and did not allow it to come to our house. When the police arrived, they took us to the hospital,” she said.

Purabi Bartender is in a critical condition, according to the BJP, who accused the ruling party of being ‘anti-women’.

In a post on X, the party said: “This is the same party that uses rape as a tool to stay in power, from the horrors of Sandshkhali to the Kasba incident, a party that has established sexual violence.”

Bishu Dhar, a local trinamool leader, said he was aware of vandalism, but rejected the claim that his party workers were involved. Instead, he claimed that it was the audience that the family attacked because of a political dispute.

“People are pissed off in Suvendu Adhikari because he abused Mamata Banerjee who has done so many things for the poor. So these things will happen. These little leaders will be attacked,” he said.

Dhar also warned BJP Panchayat members to “be alert”.

“These leaders plunder money in the name of doing politics. They have to face the consequences,” he said.

Incidentatlly, The convoy of Suvendu Adhikari was attacked In Cooch Behar during a protest program earlier this week. The BJP had blamed the Trinamool, but the ruling party rejected the charges as “well scripted drama”.
