New England Revolution
New England has not lost MLS match since the beginning of April, but has not won almost a month in the midst of a series of draw and “dropping it.”

Since the soil in a 2-1 loss against New York City FC on March 15, the revolution has gone 5-1-4 in a season-salvaging run. More specifically, New England is unbeaten in the last eight games.
It is perhaps the best period under head coach Caleb Porter since he came to the club in 2024 and has resulted in a healthy movement on the rankings. But everything is far from good with the revolution.
Admittedly, the recent run was initially the by-product of a solidified defense, partly thanks to a formation shift from 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-1-2. The revolution retained clean sheets for four consecutive games (all victories).
Nevertheless, the back of the undefeated run has become mortal again, so that three goals are delivered against both Orlando City and Sporting Kansas City, and also a Late Equalizer against DC United in the 1-1 draw of DC United (has been giving up the Uned Competition since 3 May since 3 May).
Signs have become the standard result, where New England ends each of the last four MLS games in Deadlock.
Even Porter, who has resolved part of the speculation about his future in recent weeks after Rocky (and bad run in 2024), had to recognize the reality of repeated tires.
“We have definitely had the feeling that we have dropped the last different games, but we are not defeated and we are still taking points,” he told reporters after the 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
“I think it is disappointing, but we have to go further,” he added.
Porter, fully aware that his team is in the midst of one of its busiest parts of the schedule – a run that also contains a stacked number of road races – knows that there is no time to reflect on missed opportunities.
And on Saturday, there is a new golden chance to collect all three points on the road on Saturday, with a trip to play CF Montreal (a club that has occupied the Eastern Conference cellar since the opening weeks of the season).
Coincidentally, it will be a possible reunion for the former striker Giacomo Vrioni, which puts one of the continuous struggles of the team in the focus.
Vrioni, the 26-year-old former New England-designed player who was traded to Montreal in the low season, has actually succeeded in scoring so many goals in only six MLS performances this year (three) as both revolutionary windings combined: Ignatius Ganago and Leo Campana.
In the season, one of the most important adjustments from 2024 came that the club renewed its selection of attackers in the hope of giving more offense and at least taking part of the burden of captain and playmaker-in-chef, Carles Gil.
But due to injuries (Campana is now out for the second time in 2025 with a hamstring problem) and inconsistency (Ganago has only one goal in 14 starts), the attack still has to hit. Only Gil, with six goals, shoots at all cylinders.
As much as the defense in recent matches is subject in the recent matches (in particular the blown 2-0 lead against the wrestling Kansas City on May 24), is the lack of consistent target score of more worries.
Scanning over the rest of the Eastern Conference, only Toronto (15.3) is under New England in total expected goals (17.2) According to FBref.com. Even Montreal, with only one competition win so far, is higher (18.4). And although the mention of XG constantly requires disclosure that “it is an imperfect statistical measurement,” it still paints an accurate picture.
The fact remains that the revolution must create more goals. Exactly where that comes from, it can still be seen, because Campana can still be out for a few more games if he recovers from an injury. Ganago, together with colleague attackers Tomás Chancalay and Maxi Urruti, must have to become a long time (each has one goal) if New England has some ambitions to actually return to the late season.
