The Knicks remain stagnant in Landry Shamet.
They had no update on his shoulder injury on Tuesday other than saying he was ruled out for Wednesday’s game against the Hornets in Charlotte with what is being called a shoulder sprain.
Shamet appeared to sprain his right shoulder during the loss to the Magic in Orlando on Saturday.
He opted out and did not return that game and then missed Monday’s win over the Nets in Brooklyn.
It’s the same shoulder he dislocated a little over a year ago.
At the time, he opted to rehabilitate it rather than undergo surgery, and he returned a few months later.
But that made the shoulder more susceptible to re-injury, which happened on Saturday.
If he opts for surgery this time, it would likely end his season. And if he decides to rehab, the Knicks would be left stretched thin and potentially face a tough decision on whether to waive him.
Shamet has already started six games this year when Mitchell Robinson, or more recently OG Anunoby, was out.
He had emerged as a key part of coach Mike Brown’s rotation and thrived in his 3-point happy offense.
Now the Knicks continue to hope for the best.
After a brutal start to the season shooting-wise, Josh Hart has found his groove from three-point range.
In 11 games this month, he has shot 41 percent from deep, attempting 3.5 percent per game.
That comes after going 1-for-10 on 3-pointers in the first four games of the season.
Robinson missed Monday’s win due to illness but is not on the injury report for Wednesday’s game.
