Turin – The exhibition dedicated to Orazio Gentileschi by the Royal Museums of Turin will revolve around the large altarpiece depicting the Annunciation, created by Orazio Gentileschi in 1623.
The artist’s masterpiece, painted in Genoa for Duke Carlo Emanuele of Savoy and then sent to Turin, where it received great appreciation, reflects all the brilliant colorism of the Flemish Van Dyck, known to Gentileschi during his stay in Genoa.
These elements blend in the work with Tuscan Renaissance classicism and the repertoire of Caravaggio’s painting, with very refined results.

The event, which involves the Sale Chiablese, is expected from November 8 to April 14. Curated by Annamaria Bava (Royal Museums of Turin) and Gelsomina Spione (University of Turin), the path is titled Orazio Gentileschi. A traveling painter will pay tribute to one of the most important Italian artists of the seventeenth century, who enjoyed great success among clients, international collectors and rulers of the caliber of Charles Emmanuel I of Savoy, Marie de’ Medici, Queen of France, Philip IV of Spain, Charles I of England.

The theme of the trip will be the underlying theme of an itinerary that will include, in addition to the core of paintings held in Turin, important loans from private collections and national and international museums.
