The PUMA MB.05 gives LaMelo a fiery “encore”

The Charlotte Hornets enter the 2025-26 season with the fourth-lowest over/under line in the NBA and certainly have a lot of work to do in an effort to see any kind of postseason action. New blood like Kon Knueppel and Colin Sexton will help, but as it has been in recent years, their hopes truly live and die with LaMelo Ball. We’ll save predicting their chances of achieving that goal for later, but at least we know Ball will do it in style.

The PUMA MB.05 is off to a great start, continuing the maximalist, eccentric themes that have earned Ball’s signature line the moniker “One of One.” Featuring a pink “World Tour” and a lime green “Voltage,” the in-your-face tonality is still in focus with the MB.05 “Encore,” delivering a fiery mix of red and yellow. While the colorway is impactful in itself, this variation continues to illustrate PUMA and LaMelo’s willingness to experiment beyond simple color changes. The tie-dye base for this shoe and the flat synthetic base that accompanies it mark a departure from its predecessors, with the first two looks utilizing airy and psychedelic patterns.
