The agent of Viktor Gyokeres once revealed how high he thought of Ruben Amorim and admitted that he turned lucrative offers from the Premier League, so that his player could stay with the manager at Sporting CP. Gyokeres signed for the Portuguese giants in 2023.
The current head coach of Manchester United Amorim was still in charge at the time. Under his leadership, the Swedish striker flourished into a productive goal scorer and was 66 times in 68 performances for Amorim.
Their good relationship, in combination with the struggles of United in advance, has led to ongoing rumors that connect Gyokeres with a move to Old Trafford since Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in November.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News On Monday, United will not make a bid for Gyokeres this summer, instead aimed at discharging certain players while Arsenal is approaching the 27-year-old.
A transfer also seems unlikely from the end of Gyokees, because his agent Hasan Cetinkaya is said to be upset by Amorim’s handling of Victor Lindelof’s Exit – one of his customers.
Portuguese news output File Reports that the Turk was disappointed that United did not offer the 31-year-old central defender a new contract after eight years of service, as a result of which he left as a free agent.
Lindelof played for Amorim 18 times and is supposed to stay in the club. Cetinkaya was left even more frustrated, given how hard he insisted on Gyokeres to add to Amorim’s sports project two years ago and stay in the club last summer.
That even concerned that he turned offers from Premier League clubs that promised larger wages, which resulted in collapsed deals.
In an interview with File Last summer, before Amorim came to United, Cetinkaya praised the manager by saying: “I am not surprised that Ruben will be linked to Liverpool. It is normal, his work is of a high level and is some clubs looking for.
“It will be harder for Viktor to stay when Ruben Amorim Sport goes, because Viktor came exactly because of Ruben. The day we met, I said to Ruben:” Here is my boy, he came too sporty because of you. “

“It is important to emphasize this point: I chose Sporting for Viktor when eight other clubs were interested. They could have paid more and I could have taken him to the Premier League. I chose Sporting because of Ruben Amorim, because he could help develop Viktor, and it changed his career.”
Although he will miss Gyokeres, Amorim will be delighted to have a new look-for-out line that is at his disposal on his way to the new season. This week United completed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for £ 71 million, after he had already brought in Matheus Cunha for £ 62.5 million earlier this summer.
In the meantime, Premier League rivals Arsenal have long been closed for a deal for Gyokeres, who could eventually be worth an initial £ 54.86 million (€ 63.5 million) plus around £ 8.64 million (€ 10 million).
It has been generally suggested that this summer the striker only wants to go to the Gunners, so far that he will strike to go to North Londs through a move. But no complete agreement has yet been signed on the proposed transfer by exercising.
