The Prediction: Lightning Stakes/Apollo Stakes Days | Just horse racing

Saturday’s racing heads to Flemington with the implementation of Black Caviar Lightning Day, which will see the first Group 1 of the new year.
The race is the horse racing equivalent of the 100 meter sprint in athletics, reserved for the top speedsters and has attracted a top field this year.

Also on the day are the CS Hayes Stakes, Frances Tressady Stakes, Desirable Stakes, Elms Handicap and Talindert Stakes.

Below we take a look at the predicted lineups ahead of Saturday’s race with the latest information.

The Group 1 Lightning Stakes will see Group 1 winners Giga Kick, Baraqiel, Benedetta, Beiwacht, Tentyris and Marhoona compete against each other. Other horses set to compete include the popular My Gladiola and stakes winner Military Tycoon.

This means that the field will have five three-year-old races, the main sprint. Rising Fast Stakes winner Caballus can also run here, while connections on Sunday evening are not yet sure whether he has run the 1000m event or the Expressway Stakes in Sydney.

Lightning stakes for black caviar – 1000 meters

The exciting maiden Sixties winner has been brought to Chris Waller’s Flemington stables and will appear at Flemington on Saturday in the CS Hayes Stakes, which will serve as an important build-up to the Australian Guineas.

Manfred winner Space Rider, Stutt Stakes winner West Of Swindon and progressive gallopers Loud Charlie and Officiate will also be in the field.

CS Hayes Stakes – 1400m

The filly match on the same trip at Flemington on Saturday sees the return of rising star Sheza Alibi as she meets the exciting Sass Appeal. Stakes fillies Salty Pearl and Custom are also likely to be riders for Ciaron Maher.

Desirable stakes – 1400m

Older mares Wrote To Aratiki and Sea What I See headlined a strong Frances Tressady Stakes which will see the return of another class talent in Ole Dancer, in her first run against the older horses.

Philia will also return to the races here after a long break.

Frances Tressady stakes – 1400 meters

In Sydney, the racing action heads to Randwick for the Group 2 Apollo Stakes with Autumn Glow, meeting top gallopers Ceolwulf, Aeliana, Antino and Lindermann in a race that provides a brilliant kick-off to the stars’ autumn campaigns.

Apollo stakes – 1400 meters

Angel Capital, Joliestar, Lady Shenandoah and Lazzura are all possible contenders for Chris Waller in the 1200m Expressway Stakes at Weight-For-Age, while Caballus, Coal Crusher and Axius are some of the other likely starters.

Highway stakes – 1200m

Apocalyptic will begin her campaign in the Light Fingers Stakes at 1200m against the three-year-old fillies.
