Scottie Scheffler’s win in the Procore Championship in September brought with it a question the world No. 1 probably didn’t expect.
It’s been a year. Do you see yourself returning to defense?
Scheffler was alone in Napa for a Ryder Cup tune-up with his teammates. Scheffler narrowly defeated teammate Ben Griffin, leaving Lanto Griffin in third place wishing Scheffler had not been in the field. With Napa not a regular stop in Scheffler’s schedule, the four-time major champion left wine country without a definitive answer as to whether he would defend his title.
“I hardly know what I’m going to do tomorrow, let alone a year from now,” Scheffler said at the time. “It’s always nice to get an opportunity to come and defend your championship, but we’re going to have to cross that bridge when we get there. I’ve been pretty consistent about that over time. I don’t like to commit to tournaments unless I know I’m going to play.”
However, Scheffler no longer has to answer that question after the ruling PGA Tour has released the 2026 FedEx Cup fall schedule without the Procore Championship in the lineup. The Procore Championship is held at Napa’s Silverado Country Club, which has hosted the event in consecutive years since 2007. The Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi, is also no longer on the docket. The tournament in Jackson has been part of the PGA Tour in one form or another since 1968.
The FedEx Cup Fall slate consists of an eight-tournament sprint to determine the PGA Tour cards and eligibility for the upcoming season. With the Procore Championship no longer on the schedule, fall will now begin at the Biltmore Championship Asheville in North Carolina at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. This is the area’s first PGA Tour event in more than 80 years, with Ben Hogan winning the Asheville Open in 1940, 41 and 42.
After a stop in Asheville, the PGA Tour heads to the Bank of Utah Championship at the Black Desert Resort before heading abroad for the Baycurrent Classic at Yokohama Country Club in Japan. The Butterfield Bermuda Championship will be the fourth stop in the fall before the Tour heads to Mexico for a two-stop swing with the VidantaWorld Mexico Open and the World Wide Technology Championship.
The PGA Tour next heads to Austin, Texas, for the Good Good Championship at the Omni Baron Creek Resort and Spa. This will be the first Good Good Championship and the Tour’s first tournament in Austin in three years.
The FedEx Cup fall season concludes with the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club.
