The next scene happens every year in October.
The names can or may not be changed to protect the individuals.
Nick P., after a majestic ride to the Fairway: “I swear that I get my ball upright. Or right-like. But I can’t find it because of all these leaves.”
Friend of Nick P.: “Yes, I was astonished that you hit it upright.”
Nick P.: [Frowns. Murmurs. Reconsiders friendship with his friend.]
Friend of Nick P.: “But I can help you look for it.”
[They search for three minutes. They come up empty.]
Nick P.: “Hmm, nothing. But the ‘page rule’ plays in the game here. I’m going to use it.”
Friend of Nick P. “What is the page rule ???”
Good question, friend. We can help. In the Golf Regulable Book it is actually Model Local Rule F-14called “accumulations of individual barriers”, and it is written in this way:
“While playing the [specify hole number]any land with temporary accumulations of [identify types of loose impediments ] In the general area or in a bunker, they are treated as soil under repair from which free lighting is permitted under line 16.1. “
The control book also explains the ‘goal’ of the rule and it does this in this way:
“At certain times of the year, piles of loose obstacles such as leaves, seeds or acorns can make it difficult for a player to find or play his or her ball. A committee can choose to treat such piles of loose barriers in the general area or in a bunker if soil is permitted under which free lighting is permitted under line 16.1.
“This local rule may not be used for criminal areas, because exemption is not available for abnormal course conditions in fines.
“The local rule must be limited to the gap (s) where problems are caused by such loose barriers and must be withdrawn as soon as the conditions allow.”
In short, the rule in essence means that you get a penalty -free drop if you can’t find your ball, you know for sure that it is in the limits and it can be under a stack of leaves, for example. And if the rule is not set by the golf course or tournament committee? If you can’t find your ball in three minutes or less, It is considered lost -and you have to hiss again, along with taking a penalty stroke.
Back to our conversation above.
Nick P.: “Okay, I’m going to take my drop here.”
[Nick P. proceeds to top his ball.]
Friend of Nick P., laughing: “Is there a rule for that?”
Nick P.: [Again frowns. Again murmurs. Again reconsiders friendship with his friend.]
In particular, there are a few other items to remember for autumn, and we will judge them with a short Q&A.
Can you move leaves?
Yes, and You can do this anywhere On the golf course, including in a bunker or criminal area but if you move ball while you do this, it is a fast fine and you have to put the ball back (unless he moves on the well of green; then you can simply put the ball back and play without a penalty).
Do you get lighting of aeration holes?
No – unless Model Local Rule E-4 Is in the game. That rule states: “If the ball lies in a player or touches an aeration hole: (a) ball in general areas. The player can take lighting under line 16.1b. If the ball comes to rest in another aeration hole, the player can re -relieve this local rule. (B) put the ball in the placement of green. Putting the player on the player of the player.”
Do you get help from autumn maintenance projects?
Yes. According to A story written by Danny Vohden For the USGA website: “All holes or trenches made by the maintenance personnel during that type of project are considered ‘land under repair’, and you are entitled to free exemption.”
