Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis sacked Nuno Espirito Santo on September 9, 2025 after the manager took four points from the first three Premier League games of the season, before announcing Ange Postecoglou as his replacement the same day.
Just 39 days later, Evangelos Marinakis set a new Premier League record.
On Saturday, it was announced in the briefest of statements (see below) that Ange Postecoglou had been sacked after scoring one point from five Premier League matches.
Postecoglou was sacked just minutes after the 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea, after watching his players dominate the first half and should have won the match before half-time. Instead, Forest came out and conceded quickly four minutes later, and the writing was on the wall.
Ahead of Saturday’s match, there were rumors that the Forest owner was already looking for replacements.
Perhaps Marinakis can soon set a new Premier League record.
The 39 days Ange Postecoglou has lasted the least time as a permanent Premier League manager.
They are already on the verge of becoming their third manager of the season, with just eight Premier League games played. You wonder how long the new manager will last if results don’t improve…?
Nottingham Forest official statement – October 18, 2025:
‘Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that following a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect.
The Club has no further comment to make at this time.”
