Here are three things that we keep an eye on the baseball world today:
1. Slaten to return:
The Red Sox is set to welcome right -handed Justin Slaten Back from the injured list today. Slats went down with shoulder inflammation in May and has since been sidelined. Slaten made his main class debut with Boston in 2024 after he was picked from the Mets in the 2023 Rule 5 Draft and has been excellent. The 27-year-old praises an ERA of 3.09 and 2.78 FIP in 78 2/3 Main class-Innings. This year, Slaten threw in 24 races with an ERA of 3.47 and 3.09 FIP. Although those figures are slightly higher than last year, he should still be an asset to the Red Sox bullpen. Slaten is on the 60-day wounded list, but no 40-man schedule must be made to accommodate him Abraham ToroThe recent DFA opened a 40-man place.
2. Chapman’s no-hit streak:
Hold on to the Boston Bullpen, closer Aroldis Chapman is demonstrably the best season of his 16-year-old MLB career, this is his 37-year-old campaign. He spends 38.7% of his opponents with a sensational 1.04 ERA and 1.83 FIP on 52 innings work and picked up 26 saves. His running speed of 7.3% is considerably better than average for a reliever, and that is the only way in which opposing battle people can come to the base lately. As noted by Tim Healey of the Boston GlobeChapman has registered 35 consecutive outs without allowing a hit. It is an incredible piece that dates back to July 26. The Red Sox will be confronted tonight with the Orioles in the last game of a four-game series. Chapman has already confronted Baltimore three times during this no-hit piece, including twice during this series.
3. Pitchers’ Duel in San Francisco:
The Cubs and Giants close a three-game set in Oracle Park later today and it will end with an impressive pitching matchup. Right -handed Logan Webb is set to take the hill for the home team in the middle of an excellent season where it is thrown to a 3.13 ERA with a spectacular 2.60 FIP. His 166 2/3 Innings threw the Majors Leiden, and he spends a strong 26% of the battery people while performing walks with only a clip of 5.4%. Webb’s opponent will be Southpaw Shota ImanagaWho this season has a sterling 3.03 ERA starts in 19. His 4.33 FIP leaves a lot to be desired, but he seemed more in himself in August: 2,33 ERA, 3.01 FIP, 28.1% Strikeout percentage in its last four starts. The match of this afternoon is planned to start at 12:45 pm local time.
