Will the January transfer window help Eddie Howe and Newcastle United as they face such a busy fixture list and try to fight on four fronts?
We’ve now reached the 23rd day of the January transfer window and there are no incoming deals yet.
Instead, just some quiet outgoing moves, a mix of loans and permanent.
This transfer window closes in ten days on Monday, February 2 at 7:00 PM.
During Aston Villa’s pre-match press conference on Friday morning, the Newcastle United boss popped the question.
Eddie Howe wondered if he is panicking with no new signings coming in so far in the January – January 23, 2026 transfer window:
“No, I’m not panicking.
“That’s the worst thing you can do in a transfer window: make hasty decisions.
“So we have our strategy.
“I say again and again: PSR determines what we can do.
“I think you will understand that this gives us limited room to manoeuvre, to try to bring in a player good enough to take the group to the next level and have a long-term future at the football club.
“With the finances we have available, it is very difficult.
“So let’s see what happens over the last few days. I mean, anything could happen from this point on, but we would definitely try not to panic and try to make the right decisions.”
