Tesla updated the model Y earlier this year, but stopped the Hot Performance taste. Now the range topping variant has arrived officially. Strangely enough, the debut takes place in Europe, where Elon Musk’s company has had a downward spiral so far. According to sales data published by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), Tesla deliveries have fallen by a third to July. The question is, can the performance model move the needle?
A follow-up to the revised model 3 performance last year, the SUV counterpart delivers 460 hp of a Dual-Motor Setup. The sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.5 seconds, or up to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.3 seconds. Not too poor for an electric crossover with a weight of 4,482 pounds (2,033 kilograms). On the right, it will do 155 mph (250 km/h), although few owners are likely to try.

Although Tesla will not make the capacity of the battery public, it says the new model Y-performance uses cells with a higher density. WLTP range is estimated at 360 miles (580 kilometers), only four miles (six kilometers) short from the long distance AWD. A supercharger session of 15 minutes can add enough energy for 151 miles (243 kilometers).
The 2026 Model Y performance inherits adaptive dampers of the sedan, but further refines them for the chunkier -size of the SUV. It is also supplied with 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in “optimized tires” and combined with red calipers. Exterior Tweaks, including a carbon rear spoiler, are not just for show. Apparently they improve aerodynamics by increasing Downforce and reducing resistance.
Inside there is a bit of a surprise: a slightly larger 16-inch touchscreen with a higher resolution for sharper graphics. In the front, the heated and ventilated seats are a stronger side reinforcement and expandable doormeun. Rear passengers are on perforated, heated seats with power back. Tesla also mentions new drive modes for “more freedom for high-speed driving”, along with improved sound insulation and acoustic glass for a quieter hut.

In Germany, where the Europe-bound models are being built on the Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg site, the 2026 Model Y performance starts at € 61,990. That is around € 9,000 more than the Long Range AWD. Deliveries start in September.
This updated performance variant follows the recent debut of one Stretched model with six seats in China. It precedes a cheaper entry version, which is expected to generate higher sales volumes.
