The new foldable display technology from Samsung can fold the Galaxy Z is tight but still be

Samsung’s display arm has a new foldable display brand called “Montflex”, which is essentially the way the company is to emphasize the most innovative folding displays ever.

The name “Montflex” comes from the French word Mont, which means “mountain”, of which Samsung says it symbolizes the peak of innovation in folding display technology. The company will officially debut the Montflex brand on the Korea Display Industry Exhibition (K-Display 2025) on 7 August.

Although it has not yet been confirmed for a specific device, it is very likely that Montflex displays can occur in the Galaxy Z of next year Z fold 8 and Flip 8, and offers further upgrades in design and durability.

Samsung says that every letter of “Mont” reflects an important strength of its foldable OLED of the next generation:

• M: Mechanically durable, with improved folding reliability
• O: Opto-mechanical level, delivers a lively screen with minimal fold
• N: Narrow bezels, for a more compelling display
• T: Thin and lightweight, improving portability

For users, this can fold more smoothly, a slimmer profile and a screen that looks more and feels like traditional glass.

In the announcement of Montflex, Samsung also referred to the foldable panel of the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which can tolerate up to 500,000 folds. Although the company has not officially confirmed whether the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Flip 7 uses the Montflex Branding, the introduction of this new name strongly indicates that future devices, probably the Fold 8 and Flip 8, will use it.

Folding bars have been taken a long way since the original Galaxy Fold. The early models of Samsung were vulnerable, with visible wrinkles and durability problems. But today Samsung claims half a million folds without failure, and someone who is outside of it is even manual testing for folding.
