A new fat-busting medicine that is available as a puncture or tablet helps patients to lose up to a quarter of their body weight, suggest studies.
People who received higher doses of amycretine as a weekly injection lost 24.3 percent of their body weight after 36 weeks of treatment.
And those who used daily tablets lost an average of 13.1 percent of their body weight after 12 weeks, found the early phase tests.
Weight loss Jabs are praised as transforming by NHS leaders.
But tablets can be the next big breakthrough in the battle of the nation against obesity, because they probably appeal to a wider audience that feels uncomfortable when injecting themselves.
An estimated 1.5 million British use weight loss Jabs, which are prescribed through specialized services for weight loss or private recipes.
GPS will be able to hand out thick Jabs from next week.
Amycretin, made by Novo Nordisk, helps blood sugar levels and appetite to control by focusing on two specific receptors in the Body GLP-1 and the amyline receptor.

In comparison with amycretine, tasting are crucial to get semaglutide – the ingredient behind Ozempic – approved, show that users helped to throw up to 15 percent of their body weight for 68 weeks.
And studies have shown that rival Jab Mounjaro obese obese people to 22.5 percent of their body weight in 72 weeks.
The new amycretine study included 125 adults, who took weekly injections of the medicine.
Those who took the highest dose (60 mg) lost 24.3 percent after 36 weeks of treatment. It also showed signs when improving blood sugar levels.
Side effects were nausea and vomiting and were usually mild to moderate and resolved at the end of treatment, published according to findings in medical magazine The Lancet.
“This phase 1b/2a data supports the potential of subcutaneous amycretine once a week as a therapeutic for people who live with overweight or obesity,” the authors wrote.
“Amycretin seemed safe and acceptable and there were a significant reduction in body weight after 36 weeks of treatment.”
The second early test, published in the same magazine, rated Amycretin in tablet form in 144 people for 12 weeks.

There were mild to moderate side effects, including loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting.
Researchers discovered that people who did the highest dose of 100 mg per day lost 13.1 percent of their body weight for four months.
The authors wrote: ‘Amycretin effectively reduced body weight and improved metabolic and glycemic parameters in overweight or obesity people.
“Longer studies with more participants are justified for the evaluation of the safety and efficacy of amycretine in people who live with obesity and type 2 diabetes, and to optimize the dosing regime.”
The studies were also presented during the scientific sessions of the American Diabetes Association in Chicago, in the US.
It comes when a separate investigation, which was published during the same meeting, investigated the effects of weight loss Jab Wegovy at higher doses.
Researchers discovered that giving patients of 7.2 mg Wegovy, also known as Semaglutide, led to an average weight loss of 20.7 percent once a week, with a third of the participants lost 25 percent or more of their body weight after 72 weeks.
