China has unveiled a plane that claims to reduce the flight time between London and New York to less than three hours. State company Comac says that their C949 Supersonic Jet will fly 1.6 times faster than the speed of the noise, and will be able to travel no less than 11,000 km per trip.

If the plans occur and the striking aircraft comes on the market, this could be one of the first supersonic commercial jets, because the British and French Concorde retired in 2003. However, the iconic aircraft was impeded by various factors, including the high costs of feeding them, and limited routes due to concerns about the roaring sonic tree it produced.

But reports in China suggest that the tree of the C949 can be reduced to only 83.9 observed level in decibel, equivalent to the sound produced by a standard hairdryer, as reported by The mirror.

Although it is quieter and a range of the Concorde more than twice, it is only expected Globe Trends.

According to the south China Morning post, civil servants hope that it will match American efforts to crack quietly commercial supersonic journeys.

Plans for the plane came to light in March, but Comac does not anticipate the aircraft that serve until 2049.

In the meantime, the US started with taxi tests last month on the X-59 Quiet Supersonic Research Aircraft, the center of NASA’s quesst mission, which aims to demonstrate a quiet supersonic flight by reducing the loud sonic tree into a quieter “Thump”.

The tests are the “last series of basic tests before the first flight,” says NASA.

The plane, made in collaboration with Lockheed Martin, is expected to be Mach 1.5 or about 990 MPH (1,590 km/h), which means that it could possibly fly non -stop from London to New York in about 3 hours and 44 minutes, a journey that normally lasts seven or eight hours.

In 2023, NASA investigated the business case for supersonic passengers air travel on board aircraft that could theoretically travel between Mach 2 and Mach 4 (1,535-3.045 MPH).

Data collected by the one -way aircraft are shared with us and international supervisors to inform the establishment of new, data -driven acceptable noise thresholds with regard to super commercial commercial flight.
