The first match day in the preliminary competition in the youth competition of the National Boys yielded a true shower of goals in the 016 category. A total of 177 goals were scored. Amsterdam JO16 was the most productive team. She defeated Ring Pass 15-2.

For the O16 youth, the pre-competition runs until the winter break. This competition has ten match days. For the boys, the competition consists of eight pools with six teams each. The figures one, two and three of each pool go on to the regular national competition after the winter break. The numbers four and five play in the Super O16 after the provisional competition, while the number six plays in the Subtop Division.
The O18 for the youth competition has six match days and runs until autumn. For the boys, the competition consists of eight pools with four teams each. The numbers one and two of each pool will continue to the regular national competition after the autumn holidays, while the numbers three and four will compete in the Super O18 after the provisional competition.
Boys O16
Amsterdam did not only succeed in finding the net often. The games of Tilburg, Zwolle and Cartouche also ended in double digits. Title holder Tilburg started with a 12-0 win over Athena. Zwolle was 11-1 too strong for Wijchen, while Cartouche won 14-0 in Ede. Rotterdam and Klein Switzerland also showed their scoring bravery. Rotterdam won 9-2 against Warande and Klein Switzerland defeated 9-3 for prior knowledge. Push, the losing finalist of last season, started the new season disappointing. At home the team lost 6-3 to Bloemendaal.

Boys O18
At the start of the competition in the O18 category, title holder Rotterdam immediately set the tone. The Rotterdammers defeated Athena 4-2. Vice champion Victoria achieved a narrow 2-1 win in Groningen. Kampong was on a role. The Utrecht team was 9-2 too strong for Marssen.
