No. 8 ranked heavyweight fighter Jailton Almeida has been removed from the UFC, according to an update from Laerte Viana.
Dana White and Co. decided to release the 34-year-old after his most recent loss. Almeida took on Rizvan Kuniev this past weekend at UFC Vegas 113 and lost by unanimous decision.
This heavyweight fight on the main card was extremely uneventful. The crowd at the Meta Apex also booed during the ongoing snoozefest. In 15 minutes, the Brazilian carried out only 31 attacks, while its Russian enemy carried out 43 significant attacks.
In the last 10 seconds they met in the middle of the octagon to stand and trade, but neither produced anything meaningful. Finally, Kuniev had his hand raised.
After losing three of his last five fights, Almeida informed the UFC of his decision to move up to light heavyweight. However, that won’t happen as he is no longer part of the promotion.

“He’s killing the division. He’s not entertaining, but he has enough wrestling talent to ruin other fighters’ streaks. But he’s not good enough himself to consistently beat top fighters.”
Another joked:
“I’m not surprised. This guy was boring, I’ll never forget Derrick Lewis after I fought him and said “Even my wife has never hugged me for so long” πππππ”
Other netizens with similar sentiments said:
“Good. He was just taking up space on cards with no excitement. Now someone who is really exciting to watch can take his place. Maybe this will motivate him to become someone the fans want to watch.”
“His last two fights were just terrible. I can’t say I’m surprised.”
