Mayor Latoya Cantrell from New Orleans is confronted with a lawsuit Because of constant waste conflicts That’s stinking things, WDSU reports.
Felix’s Restaurant and Oyster Bar owner Daniel Conwill and Resident Marina Costopoulos have submitted a civil procedure against Cantrell, who accused the mayor of deliberately granting a waste contract to Henry Consulting for the historic neighborhood. As a result, Conwill and Costopoulos feel that the trash cans will be worse.
Residents and business owners are currently at the services of IV Waste, which has an emergency contract for waste services. There have been signs to support the company and say that the French neighborhood with their services seems cleaner than ever. They even loved to love the spray with lemon scent that uses the company, making the streets smell fresh.
“Mr. Conwill and Felix are completely satisfied with the services that Felix’s currently receives from IV waste,” wrote lawyer Leonard Levenson who represent Conwill and Costopoulos in the lawsuit, according to Nola. “The services of IV Waste also help to increase the number of guests of Felix by making the area around his restaurant more attractive.”
Conwill and Costopoulos claim that Cantrell’s Deal of $ 73 million with Henry Consulting is invalid because it has not been approved or voted by the city council. Members challenged the bid, with reference to a 2022 regulation with which the Council could have approval authority on some professional service contracts with a value of more than $ 1 million.
The Council has worked to rid Cantrell of its contractive capacity at state level. Senator Jimmy Harris tries to have the 13-member French Quarter Management District Board conclude emergency contracts in the French quarter after Gov. Jeff Landry had signed a bill earlier this month.
The new lawsuit is one of the two with which the mayor and the city were affected in correlation with the waste contamination. The other includes IV waste, Richard’s removal and Henry Consulting. With Henry Consulting that is expected to take over the contract on 1 August, in addition to Richards who provides waste services, resentment of property owners is brewing due to a problem with the failure of the city to maintain waste services after Hurricane Ida in 2021.
Richards was one of the two main sellers who handed waste during hurricane.
In the meantime, IV -waste owner and developer Sidney Torres IV said that the company is overwhelmed by support and hopes that things will come true.
“It is our hope that the mayor and her administration will play the process as originally planned,” Torres said. “We will continue to provide the best service until our last day is every day.”
