Maserati has always had a way to mix history in its promising future, and the 2025 Maserati International Rally showed that balance perfect. Held in the Belgian Ardennes, the event brought together more than a hundred maseratis from each era, all rolling through picturesque rural roads and eventually arrive at the legendary circuit the Spa-Francorchamps. No matter how much the meeting celebrated the history of the brand -up of the brand, the moment that everyone seemed to wait was the return from the McXtrema to Spa, a song that still reflects with the sound of the MC12 of two decades ago.
The MCXTREMA immediately looked at home with a black-blue Livrei that fans saw earlier this summer for the first time on the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa. It is a clear nod to the Vitaphone Racing MC12 GT1, the car that dominated Spa in the mid-2000s, starting with his first big victory in 2005. Witnessing the McXtrema-Carry Die Colorway over Eau Rouge and Raidillon Leek to the Rest of Team, and the Reael, and the Rayel, and the Days, and the Days, and the Days, and the Days, and the Raids, and the Raids, and the Raids, and the Raids, and the Raidel, and the Raidel, and the Raidel, and the Raidel, and the Reaelel, and the Reaelel, and Raidel, and the Reaidel, and The Reaelel, Andreael, and The Reaelel, Anderreael’s Michaelel, and the Reaelel, anderreael’s Michael. MC12 in a legend seemed.
What stood out were the small details that were included in the Livrei, such as the oversized trident on the hood, the combination of black and blue along the body and the typography on the doors and behind quarters that mention the most iconic models, circuits and maserati drivers. Fans along the track knew exactly what they were looking at, a modern supercar with the weight of the earlier success of the brand without feeling a museum piece.
Of course the international rally itself added a lot of atmosphere. From 10-13 September, Maseratis filled the streets of Durbuy, the small town that calls itself the smallest city in the world before he makes his way to Spa. There were parades, track sessions and many connections between owners who live and breathe the Trident. But when the MCXTREMA set off yesterday, the energy shifted. A few moments spa-Francorchamps again belonged to a Maserati that bore the spirit of the MC12.
