The first NBA season of Cody Williams with the Utah Jazz was just as disastrous as someone had feared. Even with all the honest opportunities that the jazz gave him, Williams has never made a main subject of them and much doubts about his future in the long term. The weight gain of Williams, however, indirectly confirms what went wrong in his smoking year: he had no NBA body.

Williams was quite skinny when he came to the NBA. During Jazz Media Day it was clear how much else he looked now compared to his Rookie season.

Now it is normal for young players who come to the NBA to still grow in, and that’s why they come into the competition that is pretty thin. That was definitely the case with Williams, but it is now different. He confirmed so much.

Williams was quite invisible when he was sitting on the field. He seemed to miss trust and didn’t really know where to be. Utah knew he would be raw when the team put him on, but he looked like he would change in everything at allHe would be a very long -term project.

The jury is still out of what he could be in the long term, but Williams has at least improved something that one. Helps players stay in the NBA and b. Helps young players like he reach his potential. He may not get the same chances as his Rookie season, but that might just be what he needs

Williams can build a fantastic Summer League version

Kyle Filipowski, Ace Bailey and Brice Sensabaugh all survived Williams all understandably during the Summer League of 2025, but the biggest collection meal of his performance was, by looking much more comfortable on the field and much more faith in what he could do, Williams looked much less on a deer in the headlamps.

With more muscles and more trust, Williams can be ready for a Breakout season, although for the time being fans should only be careful optimistic. The bar is so low for him that he must show that he can do something on an NBA floor.

This season the focus of Utah will be on who are long -term keepers among their young boys. Williams projects a Jack-of-Al-Trades wing that can do a bit of anything when he reaches his potential. He did not show that exactly last season, but it is not too late for him.

Now that he enters the NBA with a body that is ready, the jazz can feel much better towards the end of this season than at the end of the latter.
