The government wants to integrate Ayurveda into the curriculum for health education at schools and colleges, said Ayush minister Prataprao Jadhav.

He said that the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) and the University Grants Commission (UGC) are working together to draw up course modules for school education and higher education, so that the younger generation can make contact with the principles of holistic health.

Some states, such as Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, have already integrated the Indian knowledge system in school education, Mr. Jadhav said. “Discussions are underway with NCERT and UGC for preparing course modules for school education and higher education,” the minister said PTI recently.

About attempts to establish Ayurveda at a global level, Mr. Jadhav said that the Ayush ministerie focuses on evidence-based research.
