The government appoints executive directors to Union Bank, Central Bank and Bank of India

The government has appointed new executive directors (EDs) at Union Bank of India, Central Bank of India and Bank of India, according to disclosures on Tuesday.

The appointments have been made for a period of three years.

At Union Bank of India, Amresh Prasad, who was Chief General Manager at Punjab National Bank, has been appointed Executive Director.

He has been appointed for a term of three years or until he reaches retirement age on October 31, 2028, or until further notice.

Prasad brings with him over 32 years of banking experience across branch banks, zonal offices and head office, including expertise in corporate lending, credit assessment and monitoring, and transaction monitoring.

In a similar move, the government has appointed E Ratan Kumar, previously Chief General Manager at the Central Bank of India, as executive director on the bank’s board. His three-year term of office will commence from the date he assumes office or until further notice.

Kumar, who started his career at the Central Bank of India in 1997, has about 35 years of diverse experience across key banking and IT functions.

Meanwhile, Pramod Kumar Dwibedi took over as executive director at Bank of India on November 24. Over a career spanning three decades, he has held multiple positions in India and abroad, gaining prominence in virtually all areas of banking operations and administrative responsibilities.

All three appointments were formalized through a central government notification dated November 24, 2025.

On Monday too, few public sector banks announced the appointment of executive directors.
