The former bicycle world champion Romans Romans was arrested on Monday 10 March at Orio Al Serio airport, in Bergamo, where he had just landed by Riga, the capital of Latvia. The former cyclist, of Latvian nationality, 52 years old, must serve 4 months due to breach of the obligations of family assistance.
After the duration of the formalities of the ritual, he says TodayWas accompanied by the Bergamo prison. The arrest of the former athlete was carried out by the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Lecco.

Romans Vainsteins was born on March 3, 1973 in Riga. Between the 90s and 2000s he stood out as one of the most interesting talents in the panorama of international cycling. His career started in 1998 and hardly difficult, in 2004. In total, his Palmarès has 24 general victories.

This season he only achieved one victory, a sign of the start of the decreasing parable of his career, also complicated by some physical problems. 2004, spent in the files of the Lampre without any victory, was the last of his professional career.
