After more than 25 years of success in the compact car segment, Ford ends the production of his beloved Focus Hatchback later this year. Although we will certainly miss it, the focus name may not have disappeared long.
According to a new report from CoachFord has plans to breathe new life into the type plate of the Focus. And yes, like many modern generations, it will also be in the form of an SUV.
The report suggests that a new medium -sized FocusCrossover could launch in 2027. Ford is expected to build it in the Valencia factory in Spain, which has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units.
The production of the current focus officially ends in November, while Ford is preparing to close his Saarlouis factory in Germany.
The new Focus SUV reportedly will not replace the current Kuga in Europe (also known as the escape in the US), even if it will be about the same size. Instead, it is sold next to the Kuga and offers “multi-energy” powertrain options, including both hybrid and fully electric variants.
Although it has not yet been confirmed, it is possible that the new Focus SUV can transfer the current Kugas mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
The new model will be built on the C2 platform of Ford – the same architecture that undermines vehicles such as the Bronco Sport and Maverick in the US, as well as the Kuga in Europe and the Mondeo Sedan in China. Ford also used the C2 platform on the outgoing focus hatch.
Die-hard focus fans may not be happy with their favorite five-door changing a crossover. But this would not be the first time that Ford has reused a classic name. The blue oval previously introduced the Capri and Puma name plates for two electric cross -overs that were sold in Europe.

The Puma has become one of the best -selling models of Ford in Europe. In the first five months of 2025 alone, the company sold more than 64,000 units of the electric SUV – more than any other model in the arrangement of the car maker.
In the meantime, the compact Kuga was one of Europe’s best -selling vehicles in 2024, with more than 105,000 units sold. If the new Focus SUV follows in the footsteps of the Kuga, it can be just as popular about the pond.
