There is a certain kind of person who looks at a Ferrari V8 and thinks, “Yes, that belongs in a motorcycle.” We have seen it before – but Max Hazan’s The newest creation is perhaps the most refined version to date: a cafe-racer-like habit that feels more artificial basel installation than the daily motorcycle. Built by the customized Metalmith and namesake on Hazan MotorworksThis monster is the kind of mechanical sculpture, which means that Ducati owners retain their demodromics in fear.
The center of the Build is a 400 hp 3.5-liter quad-cam V8 drawn from a Ferrari F355-a engine that is better known as accompanied by gated shifters instead of being balanced on two wheels. Hazan not only shot it in a frame and also called it a day. He built almost all the other all over again. With a weight of around 590 pounds, with 237 of those who only come from the engine. That makes it lighter than most new Harleys – even though they have many more cylinders. The bike also has an adapted exhaust of SC project, which comes down to what I would think Tasmanian devil sounds like. The whole thing is closer to an internal combustion works, but still usable as a motorcycle.
Built by hand, without plans or encores
Max Hazan’s work has always drawn the line between motorcycle and sculpture – so it’s no surprise Anthony Bourdain Once invaded for a look in his store. Most builders start with blueprints or CAD files. Hazan? He outlines a one-on-one sketch and goes to work. No render, no mockup, no safety net. Simply instinate, feel and a Tig welder.
To fit the pure majority of the Ferrari V8, Hazan has completely skipped the traditional frame. Instead, components shoot directly to the engine and transmission. The bicycle has an adapted ECU, in-house-shaped carbon jackets and a gas tank that acts as a structural member. This is not a number of Orange County Choppers Bolt-On Special.
The result is less a motorcycle and more a sanctuary for V8 Italian combustion, filtered by the characteristic Silhouette of Hazan. Of course people have previously built large motorcycles; Some even Ferrari-driven. But a few of them look so sleek, this deliberate or this reasonable. What is concerned? We don’t know – and Hazan does not do repetitions. So the better question is: which engine do you think Max should be built into a bike afterwards?
