In June 2025, the export of electronics/electric goods from Chennai airport increased by 80 percent to 1,859 tons against 1,033 tons in the same month last year, according to data.
In terms of the share of the total exported freight, electronics/electric goods grew in June 2025 to 20 percent of 12 percent in June 2024.
In the entire quarter of April-June 2025, the export of the items was more than 6,000 tons.
Sources said that the electronic export of Chennai Airport largely includes smartphones and that of Apple with a majority of those who were largely worn to the US by Chinese cargo ships.
These Chinese cargo ships wore more than 1,000 tonnes of electronic goods from Chennai Airport in May and June against 670 tons in April. In June last year this number was only about 300 tons.
Large volume
Some of the most important Chinese cargo ships that are a regular visit to Chennai jobs are SF Airlines, Hong Kong Airways, Beijing Capital Airlines, YTO Cargo Airlines, China Central Longhao Airlines and 3U Sichuan Airlines, says sources. Moreover, Cathay Pacific Airway has a large volume to Hong Kong and mainland China, they said.
According to data, the total export freight of the Chennai Airport at the integrated Aiclas -freight and Allied Services of AAI -freight and Allied services (Aaiclas) was 9.395 tonnes in June. Of these, the Chinese carriers wore almost 8 percent of the load. In May, exports of the airport at the complex was 10,343 tons of which the Chinese cargo ships carried around 8.25 percent, according to data.
In recent months, the export of Apple iPhones has a major impact on Chennai airport. There is always a Chinese cargo ship parked at the airport, sources said.
J Krishnan van s Natesa Iyer Logistics LLP, a cargo output -based freight output, says that the export of Apple iPhone has helped the airport to attract regular Chinese cargo ships. This trend is only to rise as the volume continues to rise.
