Ivan Pace Jr. Has been a huge success. The UDFA addition would be drawn up in a Redo of the 2023 NFL Draft – 2nd round? 3rd round? -A a accurate sign that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah did wonderfully at the aggressive Linebacker on board.
Minnesota moves to the last year of Pace’s contract. He will be an RFA in 2026, which gives Adofo-Mensah a bit of leverage on arrival at the negotiating table. The problem is that Minnesota moves to a difficult financial future, a true cap -space is already scarce. Can the team afford to keep Ivan Tempo?
Ivan Pace Jr. & The Vikings ’26 Budget
Earlier in the low season, the Vikings benefited from a similar roadblock.
Jordan Mason was taken over in a trade. The costs were only a 6th and then a late-round picking. The trade compensation was at least partially modest because of the need to Mr. Mason, an RFA, had earned an elevation that came from a Breakout season in 2024. San Francisco found it difficult to take off – Christian McCaffrey is not cheap and there are other stars to pay – so they have moved it, value in the design and a less obstacle for their salary cap.

Bring things back to Ivan Pace Jr., the 24-year-old Linebacker who has earned more than a strong increase.
As Rookie, Mr. Pace on the field for all seventeen games while he starts eleventh on the defense. He reacted by giving Brian Flores 102 tackles, 2.5 bags, 9 QB hits, 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 2 passes defended and 1 forced junk. The DC was even able to become Frisky with some blitzes and sent 74 times pace. On average, that is 4 or more blitzes per game.
The Encore season met with some turbulence insofar as Ivan Pace worked due to injury. That is why he saw his games to eleven valleys with ten starts. On that occasion, PACE 72 Tackles, 3 bags, 7 QB -Hits, 7 Tackles for loss, 1 interception and 1 pass defended. Oh, and one more thing: pace was sent at 44 Blitz, a perfect average of 4 blitzes per game.
The pff -nerds in the crowd will be happy to know that Pace has received promising figures from the website. The 2023 season ended with a very impressive 77.1 figure, good for the 16th under 82 Linebackers that are considered. The 2024 season – perhaps due to an injury – saw the rank dip to 63.0 and ended in 47th of the 84 in consideration. The simplest breakdown of his game in 2024 suggests that he is a very good running defender, a very good pass rusher and very bad at pass cover (at least per pff).

Now consider the wider context.
Then outside the season, Blake Cashman will move to the final deal of the three -year contract that he signed in 2024. His CAP costs will swell to $ 9,050,000. Not monstrous, but meaty enough in the context of Minnesota’s difficult PET situation.
Otherwise there will be Kobe King, the Linebacker who comes from Penn State that has just been scooped up in the 6th. Eric Wilson and Brian Asamoah will be free agents. Finally, there is Ivan Pace there as RFA, someone who still has a team check that floats over his labor status and yet to play without an actual contract.
Kwesi Adofo-Mensah recently tackled the problem with Safety Theo Jackson and handed a medium deal to keep the promising defendant back in the city for another three years. The critical difference is that Jackson has not been a starter, instead a special teams that are steadfast and promising interpretation of defense. Adofo-Mensah therefore received a good price on the contract for Jackson.
Can something similar happen with Ivan Pace, someone who has proven a strong NFL starter? Unlikely, people.

At the end of the day the franchise works with a champagne problem. If only there was every UDFA -Pick -Up So Successful that there was a difficult contract situation at the time. Safe to say that Adofo-Mensah would welcome that kind of dilemma at each of his signing sessions after the design.
Ivan Pace Jr. deserves a strong increase. Fans will for the most part hope that the Vikings will be raised. The dilemma is that money is not abundant, which means that a continuous relationship between team and player is far from a foregone conclusion.
