The second man who provides evidence in the process of NSW MP Gareth Ward has described how the politician determined “our drinks” in the night of the alleged attack “.
The man, who cannot be called for legal reasons, was 17 when he first met Mr Ward during an event at the end of 2012.
In their opening, the crown claimed that Mr. Ward de Man, then 18, attacked in his Meadow in his Meroo Meadow in 2013, including his buttocks and scrotum, and mounted his back.
The independent parliament member for Kiama and the former liberal minister has argued not guilty of charges involving the younger complainant, as well as additional charges, including sexual intercourse without permission, involving an older complainant.
Mr. Ward denies all allegations.
After hearing evidence from the first complainant, the trial took place in his 16th day with a witness of the second.
The younger complainant became evidence at the NSW court in a remote location and described how he met the Member of Parliament who thought they had become “partners” and their association a “friendship”.
‘Repairing our drinks’
In February 2013, after a party where he had been drinking and there had been tension with his girlfriend, the complainant said he felt low and drinking alone.
He told the court, Mr. Ward called him, expressed concern and offered to pay a taxi to his house.
Arriving at the ownership of Meroo Meadow, the complainant said that the atmosphere was noticeably different from previous meetings.
“I remember that I was immediately surprised about how different the atmosphere was compared to the last time I had been there with many people,” he said.
The man said they were drinking on Mr Ward’s kitchen bank.
“He was drunk us,” he said, including what there might be coffee dodka, what a “match was in his [Mr Ward’s] Early at that time “.
The court heard that they later moved outside, where the complainant jokes fainted the grass.
The process will continue tomorrow, when the younger complainant is expected to provide further evidence.
