The United States said on Friday that it ended the legal status of hundreds of thousands of immigrants, giving them weeks to leave the country.
President Donald Trump has promised to carry out the largest deportation campaign in American history and to curb immigration, mainly from Latin -American countries.
The command will affect around 532,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans who came to the United States under a scheme launched in October 2022 by Joe Biden and expanded the following year in January.
They lose their legal protection 30 days after the order from the Ministry of Interior Security has been published in the Federal Register, which is planned for Tuesday.

This means that immigrants sponsored by the program “the United States” must leave “by 24 April, unless they have secured a different immigration status that they can stay in the country, says the order.

The processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans program, announced in January 2023, went on to the United States for a maximum of 30,000 migrants per month from the four countries with grim human rights records.
Biden praised the plan as a “safe and humane” way to illuminate the pressure on the busy boundary between the US and Mexico.
But the Ministry of Interior Security emphasized on Friday that the scheme was ‘temporary’.

“Conditional release is inherently temporary, and only conditional release is not an underlying basis for obtaining an immigration status, nor is it an admission to the United States,” said it in the order.
