Ilia Topuria has been out of action since she went through a rough patch partingand he wanted to focus on his children during the divorce proceedings.
Since his step away from the action, Topuria’s division has improved significantly. UFC 324 saw an interim lightweight title contested between Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett. On that occasion, Gaethje dominated Pimblett to secure his second interim title and set up a future fight with Topuria.
After UFC 324, questions understandably arose about when Topuria might return The Matador may have given us a hint… and it’s good news.
Ilia Topuria’s post suggests a return to action is close
On Instagram, the champion posted several photos of himself in the gym, including a video of him hitting the pads, along with the caption, “The champion is back.”
A specific return date is unknown, but if Topuria is back in the gym training, we can assume it won’t be far away. We know Gaethje will be his opponent, but many expect this to be a one-sided fight, with Topuria likely to be an opponent. big favorite when that fight is announced.
Let’s hope Topuria puts his ‘outside the octagon’ issues behind him and gets back to what he does best: fighting the best in the world.
