Liam Pitchford and David McBeath are going to dream to California from a big start of the third season of Major League tennis tennis this weekend.
McBeath is again part of the Texas Smash team – that won the inaugural season – while Pitchford is on the Roster of the Florida Crocs again.
They could meet in the first set competitions in Pleasanton, California, with Crocs and Smash because of the face on Saturday.
Before that, Crocs open their campaign against Portland Peddlers and Smash starts against Bay Area Blasters on Friday, before completing their set of three games on Sunday.
With two new teams and various new players, the season promises to deliver even more excitement.
New York Slice and Atlanta Blazers participate in the line-up and bring the overall power from the competition to 10 teams, while the spinners franchise has moved from Seattle to Los Angeles.
And MLTT also welcomes two Japanese stars – Yuya Oshima was the first choice in the design, to Atlanta, while Koki Niwa was picked up by New York.
Robert Gardos of Austria was picked up by Chicago Wind, while Joao Monteiro from Portugal will be a teammate of McBeath at Smash.
Pitchford, who was the striking singles player last season, enjoys the chance to get back to the action.
He said: “I look forward to it. Of course, quite a few stronger players have signed up for it this year, so it should be more exciting.
“Koki Niwa and Yuya Oshima are clearly great players, I have played a lot against them in the past and it will be fun to play against them again.
“Last season I personally won 14 of the 15 games in the singles, which I was happy with, but the team did not do so well. Hopefully we can perform better this year as a team and win the matches that we will probably slide last year, and we arrive at the Play-Offs that is the goal.
“The Dave team also plays, so it will be nice to be there with him – we will see how things are going.”
