In this case, however, the Minot Airport Tower had a total of one operator. And it wasn’t even a FAA tower. It appears that this is much more common than you think.

The privatization of ATC with small airport

Airports have air traffic controllers, right? Well, no, actually – only about 10% of American airports, she has, per AP. They will of course be at the large international airports, but the huge number of smaller airports will often be much less equipped. Many of them will only have a person with binoculars and a radio to coordinate traffic, and in case you have just gotten confused, yes this is the year 2025. As an alternative to trying to operate every airport itself, the FAA started a contract program with private companies from 1982 to manage ATC at smaller airports. It all came together in the worst way, but luckily the Skywest pilot took mounds, just in time, and the B-52 did not hit the Piper either. Catastrophe hardly averted.

The Prelim report stops throwing some debt, but what kind of things can clearly not happen anymore. At the moment, the big wonderful account has assigned $ 12.5 billion to modernizing the entire system, but USDOT already requires $ 19 billion more.
